About Us

Who We Are

The Rivet is a makerspace that was made just for you.

The newest branch of Discovery Space is a 5,000 square foot community workshop. This makerspace is called The Rivet, so named to reflect our intention to connect materials, people, ideas, and the means for anyone to Make Anything.

Community members can take advantage of open shop hours and classes that teach technical skills, critical thinking, and iterative learning. Experimenting with machinery at The Rivet is not dependent on a two-year degree, tuition, or industry experience. Taking modern manufacturing and putting it into an informal learning environment is how The Rivet creates accessibility.

What is a makerspace?

A place where people of all ages have the opportunity to explore their own interests. It is a place where experts and novices share work space, tools, technology, and knowledge. Think of it like a gym–where you can take classes or pay for time using the equipment. Unlike a gym, the equipment includes manufacturing machines, computers, hand tools, and art supplies. Here, you can get creative, pick up a skill, meet new people, start a business, have fun, and experience the personal empowerment that comes when you realize that there are no limits to what you can make.
